frequently asked questions. • Okay, so I read the premise, but I still don't get it. Care to break it down for me? Of course! Basically what's happened is that all of the senshi that we know and love (and their allies, too) have died...only instead of resurrecting like they normally do, they're staying dead: it's for real this time. Luckily, before Sailor Moon died, she used the last of her power to transfer the sailor seeds (and, likewise, the crystals and seeds of those around her, including the shitennou, villains, rainbow carriers, civilians, you get the idea) into what will become the next generation of sailor senshi, allies, etc since she knew that there would come a time when the scouts would have to reawaken and save the universe. She was completely right and now, in modern day New York City, evil has taken root and the seeds and crystals are reawakening within their new owners, who are going to go on and become the new sailor senshi, shittenou, villains, and civilians. Basically, it's the next generation of Sailor Moon and her gang fighting the next generation of evil in a modern day New York City atmosphere. • So...Tsukino Usagi =/= Sailor Moon? Exactly! Tsukino Usagi is dead and so is everyone she held dear to her! Okay, so maybe not that dramatic...but all of the senshi, shitennou, some civilians and some villians are. But not to worry! They've all been reborn (for the most part; some characters aren't available at the moment but will be as the game progresses...like Sailor Chibi Moon) into completely new people who, in this game, are going to be reawakened and start fighting! Exciting, right? This means that you have complete freedom to make your own new senshi or whoever (of course, as long as it's believable and meets certain standards) living in a new setting of New York City. Didn't like the fact that Sailor Moon was a clutz? Change it! Make her one of the most graceful girls out there! Hated that Hotaru was a social outcast? You can change that too! Make her the most popular girl at school! However, there are limits...and just because they're reborn does not mean that they are completely changed; they're going to retain some of their former personality traits and quirks. After all, it's Rei's fiery temper that made her Mars and it's Makoto's defensive nature that made her Sailor Jupiter...some things just have to stay the same, you know? • Right, so they aren't the same people. Do they have to look the same? Not at all! Sailor Moon's powers weren't so strong and specific that she could actually pick who the crystals were transfered to. Besides that, unless the characters had twins out there, chances are good that she wouldn't have been able to find people who looked exactly the same. So feel free to make them look as different (or as similar) to the original character as you'd like! But remember, when the character transforms, they will take on the appearance (at least in the hair and eyes department) of the original senshi, shitennou, etc. that they originally were. This means that if Sailor Neptune is being portrayed by a PB with short hair and dark eyes, when she transforms she will have wavy sea foam green hair and green eyes. When she transforms back into her civilian-self, she goes back to the short hair and dark eyes. Get it? I would also like to point out that racial diversity is craved; not everyone is white, you know. And also, please keep in mind that not everyone is a drop dead gorgeous model. It would make sense for Sailor Venus to be one hella gorgeous chick, but would an ordinary civilian really resemble the next Angelina Jolie? Probably not. If you need suggestions on PBs, feel free to ask for help! • Alright, so they can look different and they aren't the same people. What else is different? What about ages? Ages are going to have to be around the same age range that the original characters were in. Don't fret though, I've created a nifty chart so you don't have to worry your pretty little head about it! Inner Scouts: 15-17 Uranus/Neptune: 18-21 Pluto: 19-25 Saturn: 12-15 Zoisite/Nephrite/Jedite: 16-20 Kamen/Kunzite: 18-21 Luna/Artemis: 23-35 Civilians are a hard call. If you aren't playing a civilian who has been reborn, then obviously your civilian can be any age you want. However, if you're playing a reborn civilian (like Osaka Naru), then they're going to have to be in the same age range as they originally were. • Is there anything I definitely have to keep the same? Yes, actually. Besides the major personality traits and quirks that make each character who they are (I touched on this earlier...Rei's fiery temper, Makoto's aggressive nature, etc.), I would like for you to keep the same starsign (if applicable) for your characters. In case you aren't up on astrology, each zodiac sign is governed by a certain planet. For example, Neptune governs the zodiac sign of Pisces. Therefore, in the series, Sailor Neptune was born under the sign of Pisces. Venus governs Libra, so Sailor Venus was a Libra, etc. There's no real significance to this, I just thought it would be neat (and kind of lame on my part) to have them born under the same zodiac sign. Other than that, though, go crazy! Just don't go too crazy, ya dig? • I've never watched a Sailor Moon episode or read a Sailor Moon manga in my entire life...but I really like the premise of this game and it looks spiffy. Can I still join? Ummmm...yes! It doesn't matter too awfully much if you don't know the backstory...since we aren't really playing in an era when all of the characters from the series are alive. So it doesn't matter too awfully much what went on in the series...just that there were a bunch of girls running around in sailor suits representing planets and whatnot while fighting evil. Oh, and the leader is the Princess of the moon and she and the Prince from Earth dig each other a whole lot. There's a whole lot more that goes on that might be vital to know, but that's just your basic outline right there. For more information, I suggest WikiMoon! And if you want to watch some of the episodes online, check out this site! And if you still aren't sure on anything, just ask! • Can you explain the transformational process to me? No problem! It may seem all sorts of fancy for the senshi or shitennou undergoing the transformational process, but for those just witnessing it, it's pretty...anti-climactic: all they see is a blinding flash of light and then it's all over. But what really goes on during the transformation? Well, for those transforming, it certainly takes more time than a flash of light does...generally, the transformations vary from seconds to minutes, depending upon how much goes along with their uniform. Furthermore, transformations vary from person to person. While Sailor Jupiter's transformation involves her element of lightning, Sailor Neptune's is going to use her element of deep waters instead. It's all about variation here! Through the transformations, though, the person sheds their civilian appearance and takes on the look of their super hero identity...i.e. their hair changing and their eyes, too. Once it's all over, the person who underwent the transformation is powered up and ready to fight! • So what's the deal with the awakenings? Well, until the crystals and sees are awakened, the character is living as a normal civilian. Up until now, the crystals have just been lying dormant in their new bodies. However, with evil taking root in New York City, the crystals are becoming awakened; and not just in the senshi. Shitennou, civilians, and of course villains are all awakening, too. As the date of their awakening draws closer (though they don't actually know when they're going to awaken), the characters will start having major deja vu, starting to remember their pasts, and having weird occurrences (for example, before she awakens, when Saturn glances into the mirror, she might see her reflection for a split second as having purple eyes, but when she blinks, her eyes are back to normal.) When they finally have their awakening, they'll finally remember their pasts and everything that goes along with it. But, of course, these awakenings can't just happen...you'll get a "warning" at the beginning of the week that your character is destined to awaken; so you'll know when to begin having your character start going through serious deja vu and be ready for when it's time for them to awaken! • Being a good guy doesn't really appeal to me and neither does being a civilian. Can I be a villain? You bet you can! Not everyone is going to be good; we need some people in there to play the bad guy...though the main baddie is going to have to be Mod controlled for plot purposes. However, what's a bad guy without their subordinates? They're going to need their recruits in order to even begin thinking about going to battle with the senshi and shitennou, so there's definitely a place for villains here! Furthermore, there are many different types of villains to choose from...rainbow crystal carriers who are good in civilian form but go bad without their crystals, youma (who are your regular, every day monsters), or even baddies from the series like the Doom & Gloom Girls. You could even play a character who has no crystal or seed implanted in them but just gets recruited by The Darkness! It's all up to you and we'd be more than willing to accept those who want to get in touch with their evil emotions. • What's the deal with the schools? Are they really that important? No, not really. We just figure that since we're going to be playing school-age characters, it would only make sense that they attend school, too. We have four schools set up that the characters can attend, and they're located on the "schools & places page." You can chose any school from those four to attend...as long as your character is in the correct age range, of course! Those are the only schools in play, so you can't have your student going to another one, sorry. There is one exception to this rule, and that is Sailor Neptune. Should whoever picks her up decide to keep her musical background (or really have her doing anything in the performing arts area) then Neptune will be allowed to attend Juilliard University for Performing Arts; one of the most prestigious schools in New York City. Classy, classy! • Okay well all the senshi, shitennou, and villains are taken...what now? Can I still join? Certainly! After all, not everyone was a super hero or villain in the series! Usagi and the rest of the gang had friends who were just everyday civilians...and besides that, if there weren't any civilians around, who would the senshi go around saving and the villains go around trying to kill? Plus, there's lots of creative freedom for them too...you could take on a reborn Osaka Naru or go for a completely new character all together, say the girlfriend of the reborn Tuxedo Kamen. Could you imagine the drama that would ensue once the new Sailor Moon and Kamen are awakened and know their past, but he's in the middle of a stable, awesome relationship? Drama, drama, drama! Civilians are just as important in this game as the senshi or the bad guys, so they'd get a warm welcome here too! • I really wanted to play a sailor senshi, but they're all taken! What do I do? We know that a majority of the people who took an interest in this game wanted to play a sailor senshi. After all, who wouldn't? They're pretty ace! But if all the senshi roles are taken, not to worry! More roles will soon be made available! Some senshi aren't available at the moment, like Sailor Chibi Moon, the Sailor Stars, and even the Amazoness Quartet (who go on to become senshi.) So, if you think you can handle the wait as we make our way through the arcs, grab up a different character, get in the game, and hang in there tiger! More senshi will make their way into the game and when they do, we're sure you'll be there to snatch them up. • The senshi and shitennou always win! It's not fun to play in the game if the good guys are always going to win! No, they aren't always going to win. Granted, they'll probably will win a vast majority of the time, but there will be fights when the senshi will (gasp) lose. Yes, they're super heroes, but they aren't immortal and they aren't perfect. Furthermore, there will be times when their attacks miss...it's happened plenty of times in the series and it'll be no different in the game. So while the senshi will win like...a lot, there will be a battle or two where they'll lose and there will be times when their attacks won't work. • Wait! I thought the Shitennou were bad guys? And how come some of the characters who were bad are being played as good? Well, the Shitennou were bad guys...but they weren't always that way! If you remember, back during their time on the Moon Kingdom, the Shitennou were the four knights who helped out Prince Endymion...and it was also hinted that each of the four knights had a little love thing going on with the four inner senshi (but that's not necessarily canon.) The four shitennou later turned against Endymion/Kamen, but much later on, they became good, reformed boys and now they're all good again! As for characters who were evil but are now good...we only followed what happened in the series. For instance, the Amazoness Quartet (who aren't in play yet) started out as villains, but eventually the girls reformed and later become Sailor Chibi Moon's group of senshi. So sometimes good guys can become bad guys and then become good guys again or bad guys can just become good guys! Did we forget a question or is there something you still aren't sure about? Just leave us a comment and we'll get back to you as soon as we possibly can! |
